Privacy Policy

Excali Up enhances Excalidraw with local file system vault auto-saving, animated GIF and SVG playback, path motion effects, and the complete Iconify library. This policy explains how the extension handles data.

Short version: Excali Up does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information. All drawing data, local vault files, animation settings, and directory handles are processed strictly on your device.

Data handled by the extension

To provide its visible features, Excali Up locally accesses:

Local File System Vault: User-selected directory handles via the browser's native File System Access API, storing directory references in client-side IndexedDB to read, write, and auto-sync .excalidraw drawing files directly on the user's local disk.
Canvas Scenes: Excalidraw canvas elements, including selected lines, arrows, element identifiers, geometry, and app state.
Media & Icons: GIF and SVG image data added by the user to an Excalidraw canvas, along with Iconify icon searches and favorites.
Animation & App Preferences: Preferences such as style, speed, direction, size, spacing, glow, vault metadata, and playback state.

This information is used solely to provide local vault auto-saving, GIF/SVG playback, and motion effects inside Excalidraw.

Data collection and transmission

The developer does not receive drawing contents, file system paths, GIF files, browsing history, usage analytics, personal information, or extension settings. Excali Up operates zero developer-managed servers, advertising networks, analytics trackers, or account systems.

When searching Iconify icons or loading external GIF URLs, requests are performed directly from the browser to public APIs solely to retrieve the requested vector or image data for local display.

Local storage & IndexedDB

Excali Up stores extension preferences in browser local storage and directory handles in browser IndexedDB associated with excalidraw.com. This data remains on the user's device. Users can remove it at any time by clearing site data for excalidraw.com in Chrome.

Permissions

activeTab: used only when the user opens the extension popup to confirm the active tab is Excalidraw and exchange status and settings.
Host access to excalidraw.com: required to integrate with the Excalidraw canvas and render the requested animations and local vault interface. Excali Up does not run on other websites.

Remote code

Excali Up does not execute remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly. All executable code and vendored libraries are included in the extension package distributed through the Chrome Web Store.

Sharing, selling, and unrelated use

Excali Up does not sell or transfer user data to third parties. It does not use data for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to its single purpose.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Excali Up's handling of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data accessed by the extension is used strictly to provide its user-facing local vault auto-saving, GIF playback, and line-animation features.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the extension's functionality or data practices change. The effective date above will be revised whenever an update is published.
